NoDa Brewing Company

I have been a sucky, selfish blogger as of late.  Life is proceeding as normal...but I feel I have failed to document anything on the blog.  I took a nice long break over Christmas and now am having trouble regaining my focus.  I forget to take photos, I plan posts in my head and never write them out, and I am just simply lazy.

Well ENOUGH!

I miss blogging and I miss you.  So to get back in the groove I took a note from my good friend Kelly.  I was sitting at the table, Forbes across from me, reading her post about the NoDa Brewing Company.  Forbes mentions to me he wants to get out of the house, and I say...LET'S GO!  Kelly must be quite the persuasive lady because we immediately drove to Charlotte to check the place out for ourselves.
Despite all the time we spent together in the car driving across the mid-west, we were long overdue for some quality, fun time together!
So it was off to the brewery!

I was disappointed to learn that they don't offer flights (small sample cups of each beer for one low price) but the bartender quickly offered us samples for free.  We shared a sample of each of their brews, and even their "guest brew" which was a Sweet Potato Beer!

Eventually Forbes decided on the Hop, Drop 'n Roll.  It lived up to its name as a very hoppy brew.  Forbes mentioned it reminded him of some of his college days.  How nostalgic!
I passed on a full beer...not really my style, but then our bartender quickly offered me a half-pint.  I was delighted and ordered the small Sweet Potato. Later, we were also given a third beer for free as a mis-poor.  Needless to say my initial disappointment with the flights was awash with all the other great qualities!  Great service and great beer!

We munched on pretzels and enjoyed each others' company.  One of our date-night favorites is to play "First Date Questions."  Sometimes we make up our own and sometimes we use an app on the iPhone.  Today's topics included:

What do you want to happen to your body when you pass away? Cremation.  Forbes has decided to also have a tombstone at the camp we met at.  I'm sure he will go down in history as a ghost story that counselor's tell their campers hundreds of years from now.  I told him to call the director and get it approved.  I can't wait for the response!

What if you had to live without the internet for 6 months...what would you do?  WHAT! What kind of terrible world would that be?!

What would you do if you were invisible for a day?  Sneak into the sex trade and kill the bastards.

What would you do if you were accused of murder you didn't commit? Pray like I've never prayed before.

Do you believe in love at first sight?  Yes, and we both fell in love at first sight.  The night I met Forbes I called my little sister on the phone and told her that I was going to marry that man.

What do you value most in a partner?  Faith.

We also did a category on the app called This or That.  On almost all questions our answers came up as complete opposites.  Proof that opposites really do attract:

Do you prefer to text or call?  Me: text.  Him: call.

Do you prefer watching movies or television?  Me: TV.  Him: movies.

Do you prefer Star Wars, Star Trek or neither?  Me: neither! Him: Star Wars.

Do you prefer playing pool or mini-golf?  Me: mini-golf.  Him: pool.

Do you prefer sunrise or sunset? Me: Sunrise.  Him: Sunset.

Do you prefer giving or receiving?  Me: receiving.  Him: giving.

Would you rather be blind or deaf?  Me: deaf.  Him: blind.

Do you prefer hamburgers or hotdogs?  Me: hotdog.  Him: hamburgers.  (The vegan variety of course.)

Are you a morning person or night person?  Me: morning.  Him: night.

How about you?  Are you and your significant other complete opposites?  Forbes and are actually very similar, but on random things like above we differ.  What are some of your answers to these questions?
