Half-way there!

We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot for love -
We'll give it a shot.

Whoooaaah! We're half way there.  Whoooaaah! Livin' on a prayer.
Take my hand and we'll make it
I swear.  Whoooah, livin' on a prayer.

Song of my life, I swear! I'm half way there...and livin' on a prayer!

Boy I wish I could attach a photo to this to show you just how fabulous I look at 20 weeks!  But to be honest, I have been hiding from the camera.  I really thought I would embrace pregnancy and my new body with open arms, but it has been more difficult than I imagined.  No worries, Monday Alex and I are having a photo shoot where we will find out if it is a boy or girl...so photos coming soon!  Here is our inspiration:

To celebrate 20 weeks, Alex attended a cycle class with me at the Y and now we are going shopping for a pretty dress for our photo shoot!  Wish me luck not tearing my body to pieces while trying on clothes!

Hanging Rock State Park

Today is one of those drop dead gorgeous kinda days.  The ones you never expect to have in the middle of summer.  It is the type of day that makes your heart sing and skip a beat.  When you drive with the windows down and belt out every lyric to every song that comes on the radio.  Yup, it's that great!

This weekend we visited Hanging Rock State Park with some great friends.  We camped for two glorious nights, ate delicious campfire food, hiked to the top of Hanging Rock, and swam in the lake.  I managed to capture absolutely no photos, but have the best time ever!

As we began to pull out of the driveway to leave for said camping trip I felt a sudden wave of nausea and began to cry to Alex to take me back home.  It's too hot. I'm too sick.  Luckily he didn't listen.  He convinced me to give one night a try and I am so happy I did!

I slept the whole way in, and by the time we reached our destination my appetite picked up and we all snacked before heading out for our first hike.

After checking out the falls, we made a delicious Hobo Stew over the campfire, just in time before the storm hit.  We had a large canopy, so the thunder and rain didn't bother us.  But the storm brought in cooler weather that was a big hit.  We played cards by the lantern's light until midnight.

The rest of the weekend was a repeat of our first night.  Eat, hike, eat, repeat.  We also went for a dip in the lake which was cool and refeshing!

Our second evening was cool and breezy like the one before and it made for very comfortable sleep!  I think I slept better on our camping trip than I have in weeks!

This week I hit a pretty big pregnancy milestone.  Not to jinx it, but I have been feeling extremely better these last few days without the help of any meds.  I feel like I have turned a corner and I hope that it lasts!  This camping trip was exactly what I needed to get out, breathe in fresh air, and feel human again!  Thankfully the internet provides many sources of photos so I can share with you part of our experience!

Official start of summer

Summer officially starts when Alex is done with school.  That would make today our very first day of summer.  To kick it off we enjoyed a nice little sleep-in and a delicious breakfast out.
I used to encourage Alex to get a summer job.  Really I just hated that I had to be at work all summer and he didn't.  Encourage puts it lightly...I used to really make him take summer jobs.

Nowadays he gets to be my assistant during the summer.  Everything is always more fun with two, including work.  So this morning he assisted me with plenty of errands before we picked up the Jeep from the shop.

Rewind...you must be thinking: How do they have that Jeep.  I thought they traded it in for a new Honda Civic!  You would be right.  But I failed to mention how buyer's remorse crept in oh-so-slowly and on the 7th day of our 7-day return policy window we took the car back and they returned our Jeep to us.  Dave Ramsey (or Damn Ramsey as our friends kindly refer to him) now acts as our money conscience and something about taking on more debt just felt very uncomfortable.

Instead, we used the settlement from the car accident to help fix the AC and the window in the Jeep and now it runs perfect!  Gas mileage still stinks, but with the $250 a month we will be saving in car payments, I think we can handle the gas.

So that's our story and we're sticking to it.  At least for right now.

Have you ever made any purchases that you later regret?  I do.  All.The.Time.

This summer...

This summer I will...

Get 30 minutes of exercise daily.
(walking counts too)

Read my bible daily.

Bust out the ole' sewing machine
(I have no idea what I will make yet!)

Maybe learn to crochet.

And get outside more.

Yup that's it!
