Saturday I'm Busy...Sunday I rest

I think my husband is having a pretty good birthday so far.  Forbes turned 30 this week.  We celebrated in a big way with a spring break trip to Hilton Head Island.  We sunbathed, swam, biked, relaxed and ate well.

On Thursday-his actual birthday- yes it is Cinco de Mayo, we enjoyed a great birthday breakfast of bagels from our favorite local shop.  Overall his actual birthday was pretty low-key.  We were busy with party preparations for the big event.

And so the big event has finally arrived.  I am getting ready to load the car and make my way to the winery, hopefully without spilling anything!  So while we are celebrating I thought I would share with you a recap of the week...

Fitness:

I like that this section is titled fitness and not workouts like it used to be.  Why?  Because this week I didn't workout so much as I practiced my fitness.  I utilized my strong and healthy body to get so much accomplished: work, cleaning, cooking, etc.  I let myself take a break from workouts in the interest of accomplishing my many to-do lists.  For some, squeezing in a workout can be a great stress reliever.  For me, allowing myself grace and telling myself it is ok if I don't make it to the gym was the biggest reliever of stress all week.  Like I said, I had the opportunity to test my body this week and see just how healthy and strong I really am.  After all, isn't that why we spend all those hours at the gym?

Sunday: Rest
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 3 mile treadmill run (I did manage an early morning workout this day!)
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 4 miles

Food:

The best recipe of the week actually comes from last week at the beach.  While there has been lots of cooking happening in this house this week, little has made it through the documentation process.  So today I leave you with a mouthwatering recipe that is perfect for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  Go make this now!

Of course the picture of the week belongs to Forbes.  In honor of his 30th birthday here are a few of the birthday boy:

I just love him so much and am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband.  He really is the best!  I think 29 was a great year for him, if I may speak on his behalf.  Forbes accomplished so much including running a half marathon in 2 hours and receiving his National Board Certification!  I am so proud of him and so happy to be along side him in life!

Have a great weekend!
