A Hike and A Goodbye

I think jet-lag might finally be catching up to me.  Or possibly I just need justification for the mid-afternoon nap I just took, or the intense sugar craving that I indulged around 1pm with two fabulous coconut-chocolate cookies!  If naps and cookies are the jet-lag life, well then I say bring on the jet-lag!

Perhaps the sudden lack of energy had more to do with a strenuous hike Angie and I enjoyed this morning.
To the top of Crowder's Mountain...so much fun to have a hiking buddy around, and to take a half day on a Friday and enjoy a morning in this cool, crisp weather.
It was very cloudy this morning and I worried our hike would be rained out.  Alas, we made it and hiked all in the nick of time.  The rain settled in just as we were returning to the car.
Angie has been my number one work out buddy for over 4 years!  She was the only sucker who would sign up to run a half marathon with me back in 2007!  Now we have booked hundreds and thousands of miles together and sadly this will be our last work out together until October.
Angie recently moved back to Ohio a few months ago to be near family.  She was our gracious driver home from the mid-west just a few days ago.  She was headed East for an appointment and offered to drive Forbes and me home.  Of course we took her up on that offer, and also hosted her for a few days at our home.  Now I am sad to see her leave once again!

Last night our fellowship group hosted a potluck for our homecoming.  It was such a fun event with lots of delicious offerings.  We have a very veg-friendly fellowship group, and one of my fellow vegans made muffalettas that were to die for!  I didn't have my camera, but I'm hoping maybe she will post a few pics on her blog soon.  I'll turn her into a food blogger soon enough!

As we indulged in the delicious fare, we shared our experiences with the group.  I shared a lot of our videos and snapshots and several others who traveled to Africa with us were also in attendance.  I snagged these two photos of Forbes and me from Ben!

Making out on Safari!
It was fun to relive the experience and share in our journey with our fellowship group.  They have been a constant source of support and encouragement this year!
