Vegan Kitchen Essentials Week: Handy Kitchen Tools

I don't mean to brag, but I have the most wonderful husband ever.  This morning I came home from my very intense work out in the pool and discovered these on my desk top.  The best one is lower left: "I hope you don't find these as an annoyance when you have to clear your screen..."  Luckily for Mr. Kummerow I found out how to clear my screen with a swipe of the mouse...so being annoyed never occurred to me.
If you read the encouraging notes and scripture from Mr. Kummerow, you might be able to tell I have been having a hard time lately.  Work has been busy, yes.  But it has been a good busy.  However, I have been emotionally exhausted these last few weeks.  I feel like my world as I know it is shaking underneath me and it isn't at all work related.  Changes are happening within my life that I haven't shared.  I read on another blog yesterday how blogging is similar to reality television.  My blog portrays my life...but only the pieces of it I decide to open up about.  I would like to apologize for not being a complete open book on the blog but I would love and appreciate your prayers as I deal with a few personal things in the next coming weeks.

On a completely unrelated topic...we are right in the middle of Vegan Kitchen Essentials Week on Vegan Faith.  I'm really excited about the posts coming later in the week where we will actually discuss vegan foods, but before we can do that, let me share with you my favorite and most essential kitchen tools.

The number one most used item in my kitchen would probably have to be the garlic press.
I use this everyday, for every meal.  I love garlic!  Mine is from Crate and Barrel and is so heavy duty I don't even peel the garlic.  The whole clove goes in, and minced garlic comes out.

The colander is also used frequently in my kitchen.  Most notably to rinse and drain beans.  I have learned that I am no good at cooking beans.  Just like rice, cooking beans takes a long time and my memory doesn't serve me well to remember to soak the beans, stir the pot, etc.
My wooden spoons and utencils are also used everyday and every time I cook.
These can be used on stainless steel and non stick pans.  I'm not sure why I love mine so much, but when cooking I rarely use anything else.

Along those lines:

Particularly the skinny ones that can get in small jars and places, I love this tool.  As a child I hated the spatula because it would clean the bowl too well and there was never anything left over to "lick" after mom was done baking.  But as an adult I use this tool all the time!

Lastly, my favorite kitchen tool is my tea pot.

I drink tea at least 4 times a day, so this is a must in my kitchen!

So those are my favorites.  Of course there are the other essentials such as measuring cups and spoons...although I'm not really sure how much I actually stick to measurements so I won't include those here.  I'm sure there are a bunch more tools I am forgetting to mention and deserve a little respect on this page!  What are your favorite kitchen tools?
